Well-child Visits
Pediatric hospitals provide routine check-ups for infants, children, and adolescents to monitor their growth and development, address any concerns, and provide preventive care such as vaccinations.
During your well-child visits, you will receive valuable information on various topics, including:
Childhood is characterized by rapid growth and transformation, which is why younger children require more frequent well-child visits. This is due to the accelerated pace of development during these years.
During each visit, a comprehensive physical examination takes place. The healthcare provider conducts this exam to monitor the child’s growth and development, with the aim of identifying and preventing any potential issues.
The provider carefully records vital information such as the child’s height, weight, and other pertinent details. Some visits may also include screening tests for hearing, vision, and other aspects of health, in addition to administering immunizations.
Even if your child appears to be in good health, well-child visits serve as an ideal opportunity to emphasize their overall wellness. Engaging in discussions about enhancing care and preventive measures helps ensure the continued well-being of your child.

Preventive Health Care Schedule:
A pre-birth visit with a healthcare provider can be especially significant for:
- First-time parents.
- Parents with a high-risk pregnancy.
- Any parent who has questions about issues such as feeding, circumcision, and general child health issues.
Following the birth of the baby, the subsequent visit is recommended to take place either 2 to 3 days after bringing the baby home (for breastfed babies) or when the baby is between 2 to 4 days old (for all babies discharged from the hospital before reaching 2 days old). However, for parents who have prior experience with childbirth, some providers may opt to postpone the visit until the baby is 1 to 2 weeks old.
